Green Tile
Green tile, made by hand in Fez. Our greens run from a pale, dusty desert sage through the grey-green of sea mist to palm grove — a deep forest green that reads almost black in a north-facing room. Every piece is hand-cut and hand-glazed, so a green zellige wall is never one flat colour: the glaze pools darker at the edges and thins over the high points, which is what stops a large run of green from going institutional.
Which green, and where it works
Desert Sage is the safest green we make and the one most designers start with. It is muted and slightly grey, so it behaves like a neutral next to brass, walnut and unlacquered wood — a sage green zellige tile backsplash reads as calm rather than as a colour statement.
Sea Mist sits a half-step cooler and greyer. It is the one to choose when the room already has warm timber or terracotta floors and you want the wall to step back.
Palm Grove and Moss Green are the committed choices. Both are dark enough to swallow light, which makes them excellent in a small powder room or a fireplace surround where the depth of the glaze is close enough to read, and risky across a large, poorly lit floor.
Green tile in a kitchen
Green is the most requested colour for a zellige kitchen backsplash and the one where grout choice matters most. A matching grey-green grout keeps the wall reading as a single surface and lets the glaze variation do the work. A white grout turns the same tile into a grid, which is a legitimate look but a very different one — worth ordering a sample and laying up four pieces before deciding.
Against a green backsplash, unlacquered brass ages into the colour rather than fighting it. Chrome and nickel both work; polished gold tends to compete.

Common Questions
What green tile goes with brass fixtures?
Desert Sage and Moss Green both take unlacquered brass well — the brass ages into a warmer patina that sits inside the green rather than against it. Palm Grove works with brass too, but the contrast is much higher because the tile is so dark.
Is green zellige tile hard to keep clean?
No harder than any other zellige. The glaze is non-porous, so the tile face wipes down with a damp cloth. Green shows water spotting slightly less than white does. The grout is what needs sealing, not the tile.
Can green zellige be used in a shower?
Yes, on shower walls. Zellige is a wall tile — the glaze crazes and the surface is slick when wet, so it should not go on a shower floor. Desert Sage and Sea Mist are the two most used in showers.
How much green tile should I order?
Add 15% to your measured square footage for a straight lay and 20% for a herringbone, which cuts more waste. Because zellige is fired in batches, order the whole job at once — a later top-up will not match exactly.
