Unglazed terracotta tiles are the raw clay body with no glaze over it, so the surface is matte, faintly chalky, and slightly porous to the touch. The colour is the clay itself — a warm, uneven pink-orange that darkens as it takes on oil and wear. Unglazed terracotta wants sealing before grouting, and it will patina rather than stay new.

Each Zellaro Zellige tile is handcrafted, and variation is a natural part of its beauty. Color variation, size, texture, and glaze reflect the authenticity of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship. Imperfections such as irregular edges, small pits, and shade variation are to be expected — they are what make each tile unique.
